Masakazu Ishiguro's Heavenly Delusion is a sprawling saga through the urban wastelands of a post-apocalyptic Japan, as we follow a teenager named Maru looking for “heaven”, alongside a girl who shares his face. Kiruko accompanies him as a hired bodyguard by their bond soon grows deeper and more complicated than that.

In the anime adaptation, Maru is voiced by Gen Satō in Japanese and Jonathan Leon in English.

It is within Takahara Academy that Tokio and Kona are introduced, first as simple classmates – but as this dark anime progresses their friendship is deepened and becomes more intimate. That connection leads to Tokio becoming pregnant, a situation that causes disastrous ripples within Takahara Academy.

Kiruko reveals her true identity as a boy (in mind) trapped in a girl's body, preventing her from reciprocating his feelings, although she deeply cares for him.
